WHAT IS THE FULL FORM OF IELTS?
“The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).”
WHICH ONE IS EASIER: THE IELTS GENERAL OR THE IELTS ACADEMIC?
Before evaluating their difficulty level, we must analyse their purpose. “IELTS is available in: Academic – for people applying for higher education or professional registration, and General Training for those migrating to Australia, Canada and the UK, or applying for secondary education, training programmes and work experience in an English-speaking environment. Both versions provide a valid and accurate assessment of the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking” (IELTS.org). That being said, IELTS general is easier than Academic.

The easiest way to improve your score is to know the correct marking scheme and what exactly the examiners want. This principle further helps you achieving better marks, however one cannot simply cram this and score well, this must be combined with the skill and the practice. IELTS is basically an English language test, so the higher your level of English, the better your score should be. Only IELTS test practice and coaching won’t be of any help if your level of English is not good enough.
